trees and trysting trees

Sometimes, when exploring a landscape, I search for things which aren’t always obvious, looking for a sense of place where surprises happen and stories appea, shedding new light.

Trees are fascinating. They often have significance that is hidden behind initial impressions. In many societies where they are given high status and being up to 5,000 years old they are an irreplaceable part of the living landscape…part of local folklore and narratives. They have witnessed important histories and provide meeting places to local communities and travellers. The artworks contain clues about what the tree has witnessed. The images below can be supplied as prints or wallposters.
